Built for the 1937 World Exhibition, the International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques in the Modern City. The Palais de Tokyo is a small part of the Luxembourg Museum and the Peute Palais too narrow to accommodate municipal collections. It owes its name to the Tokyo wharf, now New York Avenue.
