The English governor of Chateauneuf de Randon (Chateauneuf-de-Randon, Auvergne) surrendered and came to lay the keys to the square on the deathbed of Bertrand du Guesclin, on 13 July 1380 in front of whom the city was besieging. The connetable died, according to the legend, from drinking too fresh water from the pre de la Glauze fountain. Chromolitography of the late 19th century.
