On this image obtained in March 2009, more than 150,000 stars appear. This is one of the dark nebulae cataloged as a cometary globule, number 22. It is also cataloged as HMSTG 44. It is a very faint object among a myriad of stars. Over 150,000 stars are visible in this image. CG22 is one of the many cometary globules in the GUM nebula. The 5.6 magnitude star near the “” tail”” is HIP 41723
