The English governor of Chateauneuf de Randon (Chateauneuf-de-Randon, Auvergne) surrendered and came to lay the keys to the square on the coffin of Bertrand du Guesclin (1320-1380), on 13 July 1380 in front of whom the city was besieging. Le connetable died, according to the legend, of drinking too fresh water from the fountain of the pre de la Glauze - Putting the keys on Du Guesclin's bier - engraving from “” L'histoire de France racontee à mes grandenfants””” - by Francois Guizot - 1872-1876
