Knight of the Teutonic Order and Knight of Malta in costume to make wishes. The Teutonic knights were a medieval military order. His history was nomadic, his cradle was Acre in Palestine (1190-1309), then Marienburg in Prussia (1309-1525), where he developed his military supremacy, and finally settled in Vienna (Austria), as a purely hospital order. The Order of Malta came from the Knights Hospitaller, a military order founded in 1099 to treat the pelerins in Palestine. After their expulsion from the Holy Land, the order settled on the island of Rhodes (1310-1523) until it settled in Malta in 1530. The order ruled the island until 1798. Hand-coloured copper engraving, in “Images historiques des costumes des principaux peuples de l'Antiquite et du Middle Ages” by Robert Von Spalart, published in 1796.

Dec. 12, 1953 - Medieval Painting discoveredin tower of London. Scene inside the Byward Tower: During repairs to structure of the Byward Tower, Tower of London, it was found that the main beam carrying the second floor above the gateway has painted decoration, mostly in gold. There are the leopards of England, many times repeated in gold, with red tongues, fleur de lis and small birds all over the beam. Further searching resulted in the discovery of portions of a very fine mural painting of the first half of the 14th. century. The painting suggests the scene of Christ in Majesty with an abbreviated version of the last judgement - part of which may have been removed when a fireplace was inserted in the wall in the 16th century. It includes figures of the Blessed Virgin and of St. Michael the Archangell
