Abigail is of mixed heritage, her parents having migrated from the West Indies to the UK during the 1960s. Born and educated in London, she initially trained as a textile designer, subsequently pursuing a Master’s degree in Fine Art at The City & Guilds of London Art School in 2017. Abigail’s work is deeply autobiographical, reflecting the many layers of emotion and the rich complexity of her family life. Her inspiration is drawn from moments of closeness and connection with those dearest to her. Through tender observation of her family, she explores themes of love, identity, and belonging, creating work that is both intimate and emotionally resonant. The influence of textiles, pattern, and florals is deeply woven into Abigail’s practice, shaping both her visual language and her creative process. Drawing on her background as a textile designer, she transforms memories and experiences into layered compositions that explore identity, emotion, and connection. Patterns and floral motifs become expressive tools, helping her to construct evocative characters and narratives that embody her individuality and sentiment.
