Biography
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, James Hill travelled around capturing quintessential Canadian scenes in his colourful and evocative works. In 1966, Hill was awarded Artist of the Year by the Guild of American Artists. His famous portraits include those of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and Pope John Paul II, the latter portrait having been commissioned as the official poster for the Pope’s 1984 cross-Canada tour.
