Biography
His studies at the architecture school of the Prague Technical University enabled him to become an interior designer. He applied the principles of functionalism to furniture design. Also a graphic artist, he designed posters for the theater, films, record covers, and advertising. He devoted much of his time to theater design and worked for the Prague Liberated Theater and the National Theater of Prague. In 1943 he was deported to the TerezĂ­n ghetto, where he organized a prison theater for which he designed sets and costumes. He died with his family in one of the last convoys to Auschwitz. Czechoslovak architect.
